Another dominant year for the Sony juggernaut as they hit 70million consoles. Let’s see what they’ve got!
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Release: August 22
Platform: PlayStation 4
Drake’s out of the biz but Chloe still has ruins to discover and ancient artifacts to plunder.
Horizon Zero Dawn: Frozen Wilds DLC
Release: Q3 2017
Platform: PlayStation 4
Horizon was an impressive genre jump for Guerrilla Games. This dlc looks to be even more stunning than the main game which should make for some amazing photo mode moments!
Days Gone
Release: TBA
Platform: PlayStation 4
A zombie game for people who are really into Sons of Anarchy.
Monster Hunter: World
Release: Q1 2018
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Probably my most anticipated game of E3. A string of serviceable but largely unsatisfying 3DS games caused me to give up on MH. Fortunately World is literally everything I’ve been dreaming of in a MH game since I first played Freedom Unite.
Shadow of the Colossus PS4
Release: TBA
Platform: PlayStation 4
Shadow of the Colossus got a PS3 upgrade in 2011 which was great but it wasn’t a full overhaul. The PS4 release will have all new assets and revised controls. This one is going to be colossal.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
Release: September 19
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Marvel vs Capcom, kinda says it all. I preferred the look of MVC3 but it’s a small complaint in the face of a great new fighting game.
Call of Duty: WWII
Release: November 3
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
WW2 games are back in vogue. Can Call of Duty win back some of it’s prestige? Not sure but it’ll definitely make shitloads of money.
Skyrim VR
Release: December 22
Platform: PlayStation VR
If you somehow haven’t played enough Skyrim in the 7 years it’s been out you can try it on VR! Might be fun with the PSMove controllers, might also be a glitchy mess. Your move Bethesda.
Star Child
Release: TBA
Platform: PlayStation VR
Platformers in VR is an unproven concept to me. Will probably still try it to get more use out of my PSVR.
The Inpatient
Release: TBA
Platform: PlayStation VR
A prequel to Until Dawn. 1950’s asylums are some of the creepiest places going. Back then Science was real crude, maybe we’ll see some frog kids!
Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV
Release: Q3 2017
Platform: PlayStation VR
A Final Fantasy VR fishing game, these are truly wondrous times.
Bravo Team
Release: TBA
Platform: PlayStation VR
I would have preferred a new Time Crisis game but this is good enough I suppose.
Moss
Release: Q3 2017
Platform: PlayStation VR
A cool as shit little mouse in a fantasy world, fighting bugs and snakes? I need it now!!!
God of War
Release: Q1 2018
Platform: PlayStation 4
A sequel I never thought would happen ,really I didn’t see much need for it and GoW3 finished on a pretty strong note. That said, this next installment looks amazing!
Detroit: Become Human
Release: 2018
Platform: PlayStation 4
Quantic Dream have had some really strong games over the last 20 or so years. Detroit looks to continue that legacy with a conversation that’s becoming more and more relevant as the years pass.
Destiny 2
Release: September 6
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Destiny 1 gave me and my mates some pretty amazing game-time. Raids and PvP were easily the strongest aspects of the first game so I hope they really focus on those elements in D2.
Marvel’s Spider-Man
Release: Q1 2018
Platform: PlayStation 4
There’s something about the idea of a Spidey game that just gets people excited and Insomniac has some impressive pedigree so odds are they’re going to deliver!
