Despite frequent references as the Worst Company in America, EA raked in a massive 1.1 billion USD last financial year. What are they doing to continue this performance? See below.
FIFA 18
Release: September 29
Platform: Windows, PlaySation 3/4, Xbox 360/One, Nintendo Switch
EA’s yearly cash-cow prints more money.
Need for Speed: Payback
Release: November 10
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
One of the more embarrasing presentations this year. EA thought it was a good idea to hire a YouTube content creator who clearly didn’t give a shit, hilarity ensued. The game looks fine, maybe a little derivative.
A Way Out
Release: 2018
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
An always 2 player co-op adventure game where individual decisions have a lasting impact. Can you and a friend break out of prison and stay on the run? I’m predicting many strained friendships.
NBA Live 18
Release: TBA
Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Shoot hoops and showboat your way to victory.
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Release: November 17
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Battlefront 1 suffered from many issues. Too little content, abusive Season Pass model and poor controls squandered a perfect opportunity. It’s far too early to say if DICE have learned from their mistake but the promise of a brand-new story mode and space battles at launch are a good place to start.
Summary
Not sure what I really expected here. More iterations will keep their base happy and their profits high. A very safe year ahead for EA.
