Bethesda E3 2018 Supercut

Bethesda are one of the strongest publishers in gaming right now. No matter how many miss-steps they make, IP’s like Elder Scrolls and Fallout seem to make people forget very quickly. The big question, “what is Fallout 76?” is finally answered so read on!

Rage 2

Developer:  id Software and Avalanche Studios
Release: Spring 2019
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Rage 1 was technically good, great visuals and decent combat but the rest of the game was a bit barren. Bethesda are hoping that Avalanche Studios (Just Cause) can give the sequel some much needed character.

Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset

Developer:  ZeniMax Online Studios
Release: Out Now
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

For an Elder Scrolls buff, ESO is one of the best MMO’s in years. This expansion takes players to Summerset, the home of the Altmer, a setting not seen since Arena.

Doom Eternal

Developer: id Software
Release: TBA
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Doom Slayer returns for more demon slaying.

Quake Champions

Developer: id Software
Release: TBA
Platform: Windows

Anyone who played PC shooters in the 90’s knows Quake. Quake Champion updates their tried-and-tested arena combat with MOBA-like Champion presets.

Prey: Mooncrash

Developer: Arkane Studios
Release: Out Now
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Prey was very well received, it makes total sense that it gets some cool new DLC. Add a little procedural generation to taste.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Developer:  MachineGames
Release: 2019
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Co-op games have come back in a big way, Youngblood has players take control of BJ Blazkowicz and Anya’s twin daughters to fight Nazis.

Skyrim: Very Special Edition

Developer: ???
Release: ???
Platform: ???

Bethesda pokes fun at their propensity to put Skyrim on anything and everything.

Fallout 76

Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Release: November 14
Platform: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

I’m still a little cut over Fallout 4 so another Fallout game this soon makes me apprehensive. Online multiplayer is a natural next step for a series with so much mass appeal. Bethesda are touting a map 4x the size of Fallout 4 but I see that as double edged sword. Will it be balanced? Will it be riddled with bugs? Will there be interesting stuff to do this time? Bethesda history tells us some of those questions are easy to answer but ultimately only time will tell.

Starfield

Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Release: ???
Platform: ???

The much talked about Bethesda space game continues to be much talked about. Something more substantive would have been nice.

The Elder Scrolls VI

Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Release: ???
Platform: ???

It’s been almost 7 years since Skyrim came out and it’s finally time for a new ES game. This is only a teaser though so the game is likely up to 2 years away. Skyrim will probably be out on 4 new platforms by then!

A very solid showing from Bethesda, though they could have slapped Fallout on anything any people would still wet their pants. With the experience they have and the feedback the community has given, there really is no reason they can’t make some great games here.
